Digital Coordination Ladder.
An interactive therapy system that projects adaptable walking patterns, captures every step and makes patients' progress measurable for physiotherapists.

The Digital Coordination Ladder was developed by a four-person diploma thesis team at HTL Mistelbach in collaboration with the Bad Pirawarth rehabilitation clinic. It translates the familiar training ladder into an adaptable digital therapy device.
Challenge
Patients working to correct gait patterns or strengthen their locomotor system need exercises that can be adapted precisely and progress that remains visible over time. A conventional coordination ladder cannot capture steps, vary its spacing dynamically or provide an objective analysis.
Approach
We combined a Kinect v2 sensor with a floor projection and custom software. The system recognizes a patient on the projected path, visualizes completed steps, adjusts rung spacing and stores movement data for later analysis.
Outcome
The prototype gave therapists a practical way to review treatment progress and demonstrate goals to patients. It can also support speed, reaction and coordination exercises and won the Smart Systems Award at the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences project competition.
