Meridan.
A progressive web app that brings visa rules, border information and destination-specific safety indicators into one travel dashboard.
Overview
Meridan was developed collaboratively in MediaLab by a six-person team to make international trip planning clearer and more inclusive.
Challenge
Visa requirements and safety information are fragmented across sources, while most travel tools fail to assess an entire journey including layovers and individual traveler needs.
Approach
We designed a route engine for multi-leg journeys, combined passport-specific entry rules with weighted safety indicators, and modeled location data in PostgreSQL with PostGIS.
Outcome
Meridan turns complex travel research into a single, route-aware view covering entry requirements, group needs, safety context and saved trip documents.
