Paper Therapy.
A mixed-reality origami instructor that recognizes paper and folding stages, then places spatial instructions directly into the user's environment.
Overview
Paper Therapy was created in a 48-hour team sprint at the SensAI Hackathon in Barcelona as a hands-on exploration of spatial computing and computer vision.
Challenge
Traditional origami instructions require users to translate flat diagrams into precise actions in three-dimensional space, which creates a high cognitive barrier.
Approach
The prototype uses Meta Quest passthrough and spatial anchors to align guidance with a physical sheet of paper. A YOLO model trained on more than 1,000 labeled images recognizes fold stages and advances the instruction flow.
Outcome
The working prototype demonstrated how mixed reality can turn a difficult visual learning process into contextual, step-by-step guidance in the physical world.
